What is an Aging Life Care Professional?

elder careAging Life Care/geriatric care management is a holistic, client-centered approach to caring for older adults or others facing ongoing health challenges. Working with families and loved ones, the expertise of Aging Life Care Professionals™ provides answers at a time of uncertainty. Their guidance leads to actions and decisions ensuring quality care and an optimal life for those they love. This reduces worry, stress and time off of work for family caregivers. An Aging Life Care Professional™, also known as a Geriatric Care Manager, is a health and human services specialist. We act as a guide and advocate for families who are caring for older relatives or disabled adults.

A Strict Code of Ethics and Standards

The Aging Life Care Professional™ is educated and experienced in any of several fields related to aging life care/care management. This includes, but is not limited to gerontology, nursing, social work, psychology, or occupational therapy, with a specialized focus on issues related to aging and elder care (Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s – to name but a few). They also have extensive knowledge about the costs, quality, and availability of resources in their communities. Aging Life Care Professionals™ are members of the Aging Life Care Association™ (ALCA) and must meet the Association’s stringent education, experience, and certification requirements. They are required to adhere to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice.
